About Me.
My name is James Blackburn I am nineteen years old and is currently studying a BTEC National extended diploma in Photo-graphics but I am focusing more on the photography part of the course, I am in my second year now and I am no longer doing graphics and just specifically doing photography.
I am really passionate about photography and would like to do more in the future as some form of job as I would like to work with the medium more in different forms from photography to cinematography to expand my knowledge and learn new techniques and experiences.

I have always been passionate about art ever since an early age but more specifically I have
always taken more of an interest in the medium of photography as I think it is a more
interesting medium in this day and age than art will ever be. As technology grows and develops
this makes photography a more serious art form that is being recognised throughout society. I
am currently studying at Cronton College in a BTEC Extended Diploma in Photo-graphics and I'm
in my second year and will be soon completing my studies. I'm looking forward to going to
university to study more about the medium and finding new ways to explore and develop new
skills and techniques in the subject, so that I could eventually make this my job and develop
my own business, as I am really passionate and enthusiastic about photography.
I am also passionate about the world of film and what it is all about from the history and the
technical side from lighting to direction, I am really interested in learning more about
cinematography (director of photography) because I think that would be an interesting and
exciting job with very creative and demanding challenges. I believe that I have the experience
needed from my study in photography to go down that route and I plan to utilise my practical
abilities to further my ambition.
Furthermore, I already have an extensive portfolio in photography completed by engaging in
challenging briefs that include using advanced and complicated lighting techniques and studio
set ups, which has given me useful experience throughout the course, as I know how all the
lighting equipment works and how it can be applied in photography and how to set up a studio.
Also I know all the health and safety that needs to go into taking photo shoots in studios and
the direction and approach required to take control of one and being independent in directing,
and researching to developing towards a shoot.
In addition, in my social life I like to do new and interesting activities with my close
friends to go and gain new experiences in my life such as paint balling, which was a very
interesting and character building experience that made my social life more stimulating and a
demanding hobby. From smaller activities like taking photographs and using new skills and
techniques that I have learned from others into my work, I am building my creativity to make
my work more fascinating.
To conclude, I think that I am a perfect candidate to be able to join the photography course
or any other course I have applied for as I am already highly skilled in the area of
photography and other areas in graphic design and enthusiastic and passionate to learn more
and develop my future learning. It is important to me to always look for chances to expand my
knowledge about new and interesting techniques in photography and to be able to experience
university life itself.
